Metabosol is a proprietary blend of herbal and mineral formula
designed as a nutritional dietary supplement for individuals who are concerned
with maintaining healthy levels of insulin, glucose, lipid levels, and weight.
This premium metabolic compound includes Gymnema Sylvestre, Berberine, Salvia
Miltiorrhiza, Bamboo Salt, Zeolite, and Alpha-Lipoic Acid designed to help
maintain healthy glucose levels while boosting metabolic functions.
FUNCTIONS:
Gymnema Sylvestre: This shrub that is
native to tropical forests of India has been used for hundreds of years as
traditional herbal medicine used to treat and control diabetes. There have been
many recent studies showing the effectiveness of the plant in terms of
protecting pancreatic beta-cells from cytokine-induced apoptosis, as well as
lowering serum Triacyl.1 They have indicated a dramatic reduction in blood glucose in diabetes
patients and were effective in controlling hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetic
patients.2 It is hypothesized that Gymnema Sylvestre works by sharing a molecular
structure similar to glucose, allowing it to fill the receptor location on
taste buds, reducing sugar cravings.3 Additionally, it has also shown to decreases the absorption of sugar
from the intestine, which has proven useful both against diabetic patients and
against obesity.4 This is certainly an interesting plant with abilities to help fight
sugar cravings, lower high blood sugar levels, and lower inflammation.
Berberine: Berberine is a yellow alkaloid found in numerous plants including,
goldenseal, goldthread, Oregon grape, and tree turmeric. This active component
has been used to treat diabetes for thousands of years. In fact, in China,
Berberine is currently being used as an OTC drug that is used to treat
gastrointestinal (GI) tract infections.5 It has been widely studied and has shown significant medical potential. Berberine
has a hypoglycemic effect that is comparable to metformin where patients taking
berberine showed significant decreases to fasting blood glucose, plasma
triglycerides, and postprandial blood glucose.6 In another study examining the mechanism of action, study subjects given
berberine were shown to have increased insulin sensitivity and enhanced glucose
metabolism.7 The herb can improve the body’s ability to absorb sugar, reducing blood
sugar levels, and most importantly normalize blood sugar levels.
Salvia Miltiorrhiza: This plant is
also known as red sage or Danshen (Chinese name) and is highly prized as an
herb that has been used clinically for thousands of years. Danshen has been
described and used by many Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners to
treat cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Clinically, Danshen has been most
effective for clinical patients with hypertension and coronary artery disease.8 Showing marked improvements in both lab tested and observed values. The
plant contains compounds that improve microcirculation, causing blood vessels
to dilate, while suppressing platelet adhesion and aggregation.
Bamboo Salt originates from
Korea and is made by putting sea salt in bamboo trunks. These trunks are then
roasted, and the minerals from the bamboo and clay are infused into the sea
salt. This salt is very potent for its anti-inflammatory properties and has
shown greater anti-metastatic effect on cancer cells than other salts.9 What makes Bamboo Salt so effective is that the salt contains more than
70 different kinds of minerals due how it is prepared, including essential
minerals such as calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, iron, zinc, sulfur, and many
others.10 This allows the salt to resupply any missing minerals from the human
body and provides beneficial effects at the cellular level like supporting
healthy metabolic activity, cell proliferation, and protein synthesis.
Zeolite: Zeolite are
porous structures that often form negatively charged channels occupied by
positively charged alkali, alkali earth, and divalent ions. The final Si/Al
ratio in a zeolite determines the attraction of cations and the amount of
charge accumulated.11 This ability for ion attraction causes naturally occurring zeolites to
be used as drying agents, used as detergents, and in water and air purifiers.
The porous structure of a naturally formed zeolite is often filled with ions
such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and barium.
Alpha-Lipoic
Acid: Alpha-Lipoic
Acid (ALA) is a naturally occurring short-chain fatty acid that is marketed as
an OTC nutritional antioxidant support. This compound has been widely studied
and has shown effectiveness in clinical trials in treating symptomatic diabetic
polyneuropathy.12–15 This fatty acid not only improved neuropathic
symptoms and corrected neuropathic deficits at a clinically meaningful degree,
but was also shown to be safe. Additionally, there have been other studies
conducted studying ALA’s effectiveness as an anti-obesity supplementation. In a
randomized double-blind placebo controlled trial with 360 individuals,
researchers found that the group supplementing with ALA lost significantly more
weight.16 ALA seems to have a wide range of
effects leading to the weight loss including, decreasing food intake, enhancing
energy expenditure, and improving mitochondrial function.
